Divorce mediation can't be led by your emotions

Divorce mediation puts you in control of what happens with the divorce settlement. In our previous blog post, we discussed alimony payments. These support payments are only one of the considerations you have to factor into the divorce settlement.

When you first find out that you are going to get divorced, you have to take stock of the entire situation. This includes determining what assets have to be divided, what you have to cover in a child custody agreement and what type of support payments are going to be paid.

Mediation is something that you can use to help you get what you want when the divorce ends. This doesn't mean that you will get exactly what you want. Instead, you have to be willing to compromise with your ex.

We know that you might not feel all that prepared for going through the divorce process. We can help you to understand the laws that might have an impact on your case. We can help you to vet out options for handling the points of the settlement. Since you have an emotional tie to the situation, it is best to have someone who doesn't to help you along the way.

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make in divorce mediation is trying to rush through the process so that you can be done with it all. When you let your emotions rule the decisions you make while you are rushing, you might find that you end up with a less than desirable settlement. We are here to help you stay on track with the process so that you can have a suitable resolution in a reasonable amount of time.
