Although we are in Florida, you don't have to look very far to find news of New York's mayoral campaign. Candidate Anthony Weiner's sexting scandal has made national news. Sexting is a broad term that refers to the sending of sexually explicit texts or messages as well as photos over digital media--usually a cell phone.

Gov. Rick Scott recently made a line-item veto in the new state budget that cuts funding to the state’s Displaced Homemakers Program, according to a recent report in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.   The Displaced Homemakers Program provides divorced, abused and widowed women access to various training and education opportunities.

High asset divorce likely for Pasco County commissioner

News seems to spread fast along the Gulf Coast – especially when a politician is involved. In Pasco County, for example, a county commissioner is embroiled in a messy divorce complete with criminal domestic battery charges, although those charges were later dropped. According to an article in The Tampa Tribune, this divorce has the potential to get costly. The commissioner's net worth was listed as $4.4 million in 2012, and it likely that the commissioner and his wife also have significant assets, including real estate, business assets, pensions, and property interests.
