Individualized Education Progams (IEPs)

Understanding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) For Children

Both the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Florida Exceptional Student Education (EDE) law ensure students with diverse needs are provided special educational attention in the public school arena tailored to their specific needs.

Under these laws, those who meet both state and federal disability standard qualifications will be provided an individualized plan under the Individualized Education Program (IEP).

The IEP outlines the services the student will receive, the length of time services will be provided, and accommodations that are necessary to provide the services, among other stipulations. The plan is reviewed annually and revised as necessary.
